LLANGEFNI Town manager Chris Roberts has explained the reasoning behind a series of influential squad members departing the club in recent days.

The newly promoted FAW Tier 2 North League side have been dealt a blow at the business end of the field after losing four key men who played a leading role in their memorable Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division One title-winning campaign.

Kevin Lloyd, Marvin Pritchard and Alan Mark Owen have all left the club to sign for Llanrug United, with Liam Morris opting to join second tier rivals Conwy Borough.

They will also be without the services of Sean Pritchard, who has signed for Gaerwen.

Roberts, said: “Alan wasn’t really with us for the final two months of the season anyway, and Marvin was unable to commit to the travelling due to work commitments.

“Kev did not want to step up to second tier level again and Sean said that he is another who cannot commit to the travelling that comes with playing in the league.”

The Cefni boss added that Borough’s financial offer for Morris swayed the talented forward’s decision to sign on at Y Morfa, and he is now looking to bring in reinforcements in the hope of making an impact following their elusive promotion.

They continued their pre-season preparations with a 2-0 home success over recently reformed Bethesda Athletic.

Goals from Iwan Jones and Dan Bambi were enough to give them a comfortable triumph at Cae Bob Parry.
