PRESTATYN Town have agreed terms with a number of influential squad members for their expected promotion bid.

The Seasiders’ confirmed that skipper Alex Jones and experienced striker Ian Griffiths have penned new deals at the club, which is another massive boost for manager Neil Gibson as he looks to guide the club back to the JD Welsh Premier League at the second time of asking.

Jones took over the captaincy from Dave Hayes following his brief retirement and kept the armband when the defender returned to the fold.

He is a powerful presence in the middle of the park and performed consistently well during a difficult start, but came on strong with an improved squad around him once Gibson made a return from Connah’s Quay Nomads.

Jones boasts top-flight experience after a spell at nearby rivals Rhyl and netted nine league goals for Town last season.

Prolific forward Griffiths made a return to the set-up last summer after a spell at Prestatyn Sports, where he played a massive part in their sensational rise through the Welsh pyramid system.

He has gone down in Town folklore after netting their first ever goals in the JD Welsh Premier League in a 2-1 triumph over Airbus UK Broughton in 2008, before turning out 76 times in the top-flight for the Seasiders, scoring 19 goals.

Others to commit their immediate futures top the club are Chris Bennett, Connor Shackleton and James Hay, with a large number of Academy graduates also putting pen to paper and further boost Gibson’s strength in depth.

Aaron White, Casey Faulkner, Macauley Taylor, Nathanial Hulme and Sam Duffy will all be looking to continue their exceptional recent development, with their progress last season seeing them rewarded with first team appearances.
