TWO legendary figures at Prestatyn Sports will spearhead their newly formed reserve side next season.

The ambitious club will have a side in the Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Reserve League for the first time after their application was formally accepted by officials at their Annual General Meeting.

This came as a result of lengthy discussions involving Sports’ committee members during the previous campaign, and they have announced that Steve Roberts and Ian Dunn will assume leadership positions as joint managers.

Roberts has a long-standing history with the club having represented them as a player and he has also taken on the role of chairman during the set-ups incredible rise to prominence.

He will be joined in the dugout by Dunn, who is another that has enjoyed a trophy-laden career with Sports and featured a significant number of times in a hugely successful first season operating at Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division One level.

A club spokesman, said: “Both these lads know exactly what the club is about and what's expected, so this team will be in great hands. Of that we are sure.

“Although we want this team to be successful, we also want it to be a pathway for young local players to step up into men’s football.

“The step up from under 16s to tier three is massive and some are ready and some aren't.

“As a club we want to nurture talent and give it the time to grow but also keep our first team on their toes, and hopefully this team will give us that.”

Anyone wishing to join the Reserve team side can attend an open training session on Tuesday, June 18 at the Meadows Playing Fields from 6.30pm.
