PRESTATYN Town have received another huge boost with the news that skipper Dave Hayes has agreed to stay on at the club.

The legendary defender came out of the briefest of retirements last summer to re-join the set-up under the joint-managerial team of Leon Field and Ryan Turner, turning in a series of impressive displays that saw him secure a place in the Huws Gray Alliance’s Team of the Season.

His efforts throughout the campaign also saw Hayes presented with the Players’ Player of the Year and the Supporters’ Player of the Year at Town’s presentation evening as a result of his fine efforts throughout.

Hayes’ decision to play on for another season is another significantly positive move during what has been a busy summer at the Motion Finance Stadium so far, with manager Neil Gibson looking to form a squad capable of challenging for the title and promotion to the JD Welsh Premier League next term.

This has been bolstered with the signings of Kai Edwards, Rob Hughes and Jack Kenny, with former talisman Michael Parker also making a triumphant return to the squad following his release by Connah’s Quay Nomads.

Hayes is widely regarded as one of the greatest players to ever play for the Seasiders’ and captained them to a sensational Welsh Cup victory over Bangor City in 2013 after joining the club from nearby rivals Rhyl.

He has made more than 200 top-flight appearances for the club and held the captaincy for a number years prior to his initial retirement.
