RHYL FC have made a significant addition to their youth coaching staff with the appointment of Josh Griffiths.

The popular figure will be part of the Lilywhites’ set-up as U14 coach, and he brings a wealth of experience to the role having acquired a wealth of experience playing across the region.

He is the current captain of fellow FAW Tier Two North and Mid Championship side Gresford Athletic and has played within the Welsh pyramid system since the age of 16.

This includes spells at high-profile clubs such as Cefn Druids, Airbus Broughton, Conwy Borough and Buckley Town.

David Norman, sporting director at Rhyl FC, said: “I have known Josh for a number of years having taught him in school.

“Josh is a talented footballer who has clear leadership qualities which he has shown leading Gresford Athletic last season.

“His commitment, drive, and enthusiasm for developing young footballers will give players at Rhyl an opportunity to flourish.”

The 27-year-old completed his FAW C Licence last year and will be moving on to the B Licence training in August.

Griffiths stated that he was “enthusiastic about working in an environment which will allow players to improve and reach full potential and that I am committed to ensuring coaching and match days will be enjoyable and competitive for players in the right manner”, and that he was “looking forward to the challenge that lies ahead.”
