RHYL are looking to bolster their defensive ranks with the signing of Steve Thomas.

The Journal understands that the Lilywhites have identified the Llandudno full-back as a key target as they look to mount a promotion push to the JD Welsh Premier League during the upcoming season.

Thomas arrived at the Giant Hospitality Stadium last summer after a standout spell at Holywell Town, where he skippered the club during a hugely successful spell that spanned a decade.

After making his first team debut at 17, Thomas made more than 300 appearances for the Wellmen and was part of their treble winning side during the 2014/15 season.

He found things difficult at Tudno under manager Iwan Williams due to injury problems and the side’s overall lack of form, with Thomas missing the crucial run-in with a serious knock as the club were relegated from the top flight after a four-year stay.

It promises to be a very busy summer on and off the field at the Lilies, who showed signs of promise last season with a brand new squad and management team, with Eddie Maurice-Jones, Gareth Wilson and Richard Williams-Cooke looking to improve the squad for a shot at the title next time around.
