PRESTATYN Town are looking to bolster their squad with the signing of defender Kai Edwards.

The Journal understands that Seasiders’ manager Neil Gibson has made the acquisition of Edwards as a top priority now the impressive centre-half has fulfilled his JD Welsh Premier League obligations with relegated JD Welsh Premier League side Llandudno.

Edwards is from the region and does have a connection to the Tier 2 North side, with brothers Noah, Zebb and Zyaac all playing for the club in recent years.

The move would represent a significant statement of intent from Gibson and chairman Neal Colakoglu, with the club looking to mount a promotion push next term after enjoying a superb second half of the season.

The Wales C international has acquired a wealth of experience in the domestic game, with his efforts for Connah’s Quay Nomads drawing widespread praise before he opted to join Tudno last summer, much to the annoyance of Nomads’ boss Andy Morrison.

The Journal understands that Gibson, who returned to the club midway through the season, is looking to get his transfer business done early and form a cohesive squad capable of getting the second tier season off to flyer, with the efforts in the opening stages of the campaign from Airbus Broughton going a long way to determining their success this time around.

A host of high-profile names have been linked with the club since the end of their competitive fixtures, which saw them end the season in ninth position.
