STORM Hannah played havoc with the weekend’s cricket fixtures involving the region’s sides.

Not a single ball was bowled as heavy rain and winds decimated the calendar during the second week of the campaign, with Prestatyn sharing five points apiece with Liverpool and District Competition Division One rivals Wavertree after the game was cancelled at their Beach Close base.

They will be hoping for better luck with the weather this Saturday as they look to secure their first win of the season at Fleetwood Hesketh after losing their opening day outing at Rainford.

Despite the defeat there were plenty of positives to take from clash, including a half century from Welsh youth international Sheil Sethi and bowling figures of 4-61 from Danny Bryde.

St Asaph’s North Wales Cricket League Premier Division encounter at home to title rivals Bangor was also abandoned without any play, and Will Ryan’s men face a stern test of their credentials next Saturday when they welcome Gresford to their Elwy Grove Park base.

Mathew Ryan will be expected to play a key role with both bat and bowl after a standout display during their opening fixture win over Llandudno, with new signing from Prestatyn Danny Williams another that will be aiming to build on a very positive opening to the season.

Abergele’s Division One home game with pre-season championship contenders Bersham also fell victim to the adverse weather conditions, and they go in search for their first win at the third attempt at derby rivals Llanrwst on Saturday.
