LLANDUDNO Athletic secured a memorable double thanks to another cup final triumph over Abergele.
The Vale of Clwyd and Conwy League Premier Division rivals squared-off against each other once again in the second piece of silverware decided by the two clubs during the closing stages of the season, with Athletic emerging victorious 2-0 at the home of recently relegated Huws Gray Alliance side Denbigh Town.
The President’s Cup final was a hotly contested affair throughout, but Athletic went into the interval a goal to the good as a neat passage of play was finished off in style by Ste Cheung.
After the break saw Gele grow more into the contest with an improved amount of possession, but they failed to capitalise on any of the opportunities that came their way and were undone again by another sweeping attack that presented a chance to Ben Seager, and he made no mistake with the finish to double the cushion.
This proved to be a telling factor in the overall outcome of the final, with Athletic seeing out the remainder of the game in relative comfort to ensure they ended what has been a hugely encouraging first season operating at this level with two trophies to show for their efforts.
It was a case of what might have been for Gele, who can also take plenty of positives from the campaign as they look to build during the summer ahead of a possible promotion push next term.
Athletic will now turn their attention to a possible second placed finish in the Premier Division, and they will move ahead of Llansannan on goal difference if they win their remaining fixture.
