LLANRHAEADR 1
NANTGLYN 2
PROLIFIC frontman Geraint Jones ensured Nantglyn started the 2019 campaign courtesy of a three-point haul.
Jones struck twice to see Nantglyn through to a 2-1 triumph in a hard fought encounter at Llanrhaeadr.
Last season's Shield winners benefited from Rhys Rowlands' goal, but they weren't able to pick up anything from their efforts.
Llanrhaeadr manager Martin Baldry said: "It was a very close, hard fought game between two well matched teams."
David "Garf" Wilkins enjoyed a good debut at the heart of the Llanrhaeadr defence, while Arfon Davies did well at left back.
