Y GLANNAU ended a positive Vale of Clwyd and Conwy League Division One campaign with an emphatic 7-2 home rout over Penrhyn Bay Dragons.

Another three points for the runners-up ensured they finished ten points behind champions Llanelwy Athletic and four points ahead of third-placed Rhos United after a stunning end to the campaign.

The home side got off to the best possible start and went ahead after just one minute when Joey Fontana found the net, and they doubled their advantage immediately following the restart when Ryan Jones finished well with two on the clock.

Their rampant opening to proceedings brought further success on 11 minutes when Chris Kelly’s superb effort trebled their tally, and the prolific Fontana was on hand again to all-but seal their victory with his second of the afternoon on 28.

Rhys Thomas-Clark added a fifth on the half hour mark after finishing off another outstanding attacking move, and this was swiftly followed by another which came courtesy of Chris Rogers with 32 gone.

After the break saw the hosts complete their scoring through Connor Heath on 50 minutes, but the visitors kept plugging away and netted two consolations in the final five minutes through Jack Williams and Scott Kearney on 85 and 86 minutes respectively.

Abergele’s Premier Division home encounter with Old Colwyn was postponed after the away side were unable to raise a team.
