RHYL and District’s youth side reached the final of the North Wales Plate thanks to a superb 15-13 win at Bro Ffestiniog.
The young Dragons continued their excellent finish to the campaign to book their place in the showcase, and they will take on either Mold or Llangefni on May 5 in the pursuit of silverware.
Despite travelling to the tie with 15 players, the visitors demonstrated their class throughout the tie and managed to secure tries from Cai Evans and James Peake that played a huge contributing factor in their overall success.
Full-back Huw Roberts kept the score-board ticking over with a conversion and a penalty, and their outstanding defence held firm in the face of stern pressure in the dying stages to see them progress.
The Dragons’ second unit managed to get in some much-needed minutes in their 27-10 friendly loss to Abergele at their impressive new facility at Ty Newydd Fields.
Blustery conditions made things difficult for both sides throughout, with Gele using the conditions to their advantage in the second period to emerge victorious.
