A NUMBER of Rhyl and District Rugby Club youngsters have been rewarded for their superb recent form with a regional squad selection.

No fewer than four of the Dragons’ youth set-up were called-up to the North East Wales squad for the national schools’ competition, and they all performed exceptionally during their first outing in their new surroundings.

Ysgol Trelogan pupil Freddie Holt, Ysgol Dewi Sant’s Dylan Thomas, Ysgol y Castell’s Kai Griffiths and Ysgol Bodnant’s Luke Graham were part of the U11 squad that secured a hugely impressive 30-25 success over Llanelli, with the quartet playing a significant role in their overall triumph.

The district side have now begun preparing for the next stage of the competition against Carmarthen Schools’ later this month, and they have been described as “another great example of the great junior section Rhyl and District Rugby Club has to offer” by coach Mark Holt.

The four aspiring stars earned selection to the squad after impressing considerably during the trial process, and also caught the eye with the excellent displays in a Dragons’ shirt this season.
