A LARGE number of aspiring players descended on Rhyl and District Rugby Club’s impressive new facility for a special competition.

The WRU National League Division Two side opened up Ty Newydd Field to more than 120 schoolchildren from across the region for the annual Tag Rugby competition, which saw those taking part compete in a round-robin format to determine the overall winner.

After a fierce day of competition, Ysgol Bodnant got their hands on the coveted trophy thanks to a superb performance throughout, narrowly pipping Ysgol Brynhedydd in a very close contest.

At the other end of the age scale, Rhyl and District’s offside club for current and former players, together with supporters, held a special meeting regarding future plans on Friday, April 5.

The evening began with the inaugural tag rugby session, which saw 22 senior members of the club taking part.

This is going to be held on the first Friday of the month from 7pm, and all are welcome to attend.
