LLANGEFNI Town struck another blow in their pursuit of the Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division One title thanks to a 3-0 home win over Llanrwst United.

Chris Roberts’ side made light work of their opposition as their quest for a landmark treble gathers pace, with former Caernarfon Town striker Kev Lloyd playing a leading role in another valuable three points.

The result moves Cefni into second spot and one point ahead of championship rivals Bodedern Athletic having played the same number of games, and they move to within three points of current pacesetters Llandudno Albion with five games in hand.

The home side made an imposing start to the contest and they went ahead on 14 minutes when Lloyd unleashed a ferocious free-kick from a tight angle that sailed into the top corner.

They were presented with a golden chance to double their advantage soon after when Alan Mark Owen delivered a superb through ball to Lloyd, who demonstrated his trademark composure to put away with chance for the hosts’ second of the evening.

Credit to the Rwsters, they responded well to the setback and frustrated Cefni’s attempts to put the game beyond reach throughout the remainder of the first period with some resolute defending in the face of consistent pressure throughout.

After the interval saw the home side fail to convert any of the chances that came their way, but they did manage to seal the encounter late on when Lloyd rounded off a clinical individual dispay with his hat-trick on 86 minutes when he turned in a Gary Owen cross.
