KINMEL Bay severely dented Pwllheli’s hopes of lifting the Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division Two title with a superb 4-2 triumph on home soil.

Andy Thomas’ men turned in one of their most impressive performances of the season against a Pwll’ side that have been in phenomenal form of late, and the result leaves them sitting in fifth spot as they gear for their final away fixture at Y Felinheli on Saturday (2.30pm).

The hosts began the game on the front foot, and they were rewarded with the opener on 25 minutes which came courtesy of club stalwart Ashley Wood thanks to a neat finish following some neat build-up play.

This provoked a strong response from the visitors, who got back on level terms soon after when Tom Mahoney produced an excellent finish for the equaliser, but the Bay bounced back in fine fashion and restored their cushion thanks to a blistering strike from Nyal Hughes with 40 on the clock.

Thomas’ men doubled their advantage during a rampant end to the first period on 42 minutes when Russ Roberts finished well following another period of sustained pressure, and they continued their relentless attitude after the interval which brought further reward as prolific Kie Ellis’ well-taken finish all-but sealed the points on 55.

Credit to the away side, they continued to probe and look for a way back into the game, which came on 70 minutes when Daniel Jones burst clear and slotted home.

The home side remained resolute in the closing stages in the face of some consistent pressure to come away from the clash with a notable success.
