RHYL director of football Eddie Maurice-Jones is bracing himself for a tough test at fierce rivals Bangor City on Friday night (7.30pm).

The Lilywhites conclude their away fixtures at the EuroGold Stadium against the Citizens, who have endured another turbulent campaign off-the-field that has saw them drift out of Huws Gray Alliance title contention as a result.

Maurice-Jones’ side come into the game on the back of a goalless draw at Guilsfield, with the former Gresford Athletic and Denbigh Town boss acknowledging things have been “frustrating” to watch in recent weeks after a fine run of form at the turn of the year.

He said: “The management and I see Friday's fixture as another tough test. We need to stay focused and concentrate on a good performance and be strong, to not get drawn into the occasion or let our emotions distract our preparations as I feel this fixture is one of the biggest and most respected in the area. These are two huge clubs with great history who have battled it out over the years and I don't think Friday will be anything less."

“Our last couple of results we have been left frustrated as we have failed to convert chances, however during last week's performance we showed glimpses of improvement but again didn't capitalise on the periods when on top.

“We are determined to improve and show a much more convincing display and I'm fully confident in the squad to finish the season on a high."

Midfielder Gareth Partridge suffered a setback after making his return from injury off the bench against the Guils and will miss the derby clash, with Ross Stephens and Aaron Hassall sidelined for the remainder of the season with respective knocks.

Kai Wallis and Mike Pritchard are still sidelined through suspension.
