PRESTATYN Town ended their Huws Gray Alliance home fixtures on a high with a thumping 6-2 win over Bangor City.

The Seasiders’ produced a sensational display in front of their loyal fan-base to pick up another three points against the troubled Citizens, and the result moves Neil Gibson’s side up to eighth position ahead of their final league outing at Llanrhaeadr-ym-Mochant on Saturday (2.30pm).

Gibson, said: The season has sort of flown by really after I came in a third of the way in, and it was a fitting way to finish in front of the fans who were magnificent again and have been right there with us through what has been a difficult season at times.

“Prestatyn versus Bangor has always been a good rivalry with some good memories, and the lads have etched their own piece of history with that result.

“They should really appreciate the performance they all put in, and we thoroughly deserved the victory. If anything, I was a bit disappointed at half time as we started so well to go two ahead, but we allowed them back into it with two goals I wasn’t happy about.

“However, we bounced back very well, and I don’t think that 6-2 flattered us.”

The home side made an exceptional start and went ahead on nine minutes through a 20-yard thunderbolt from skipper Alex Jones, and they doubled their advantage when Danny Davies turned in a Macauley Taylor cross with 12 gone.

City managed to pick themselves up following a lacklustre opening to the tie, and player-manager Gary Taylor-Fletcher’s looping header got them on the score board on 21 minutes.

This was followed by another from the away side which came courtesy of a sensational individual effort from Jacob Farleigh before the break, but Town turned the screw after the interval and restored their cushion through a Dave Hayes header on 68 minutes.

Davies notched his second of the evening soon after, and the rampant Town outfit ran riot in the closing stages thanks to goals from Taylor and Hayes to complete the rout.
