Llansannan bow out of NWCFA Junior Cup after defeat at Menai Bridge Tigers

Gari Evans and Tom Lewis’ side put up a valiant effort against the Gwynedd League title favourites but eventually came undone in the second period to ensure they exited the competition at the quarter-final stage.

The visitors began the game brighter and spurned a good chance early on, with the Tigers gradually finding their feet but found chances hard to come by in a cagey first period between two sides that have been at the top of their game so far this term.

After the interval saw the home side impose themselves from the outset, and they were rewarded for their improved tempo when a long-distance delivery from Harry Jones was headed into the net superbly by prolific forward Dean Redmond.

The visitors threw caution to the wind with a view to getting themselves back into the tie, and they were caught by a quick counter-attack from the Tigers that resulted in a second header of the afternoon for Redmond from an excellent cross from Jones after Callum Davidson had appeals for a penalty waved away.

This proved crucial as the hosts saw out the remainder of the game in comfortable fashion to progress.

Bryngwran Bulls also secured a final four berth with a dramatic 5-4 extra-time home victory over Arriva Bangor, with the quarter-final clashes between Holyhead Hotspur Reserves and Bro Goronwy, in addition to the tie between Talysarn Celts and Llanfairfechan Town both postponed due to the adverse weather conditions.
