GLAN Conwy took another huge leap towards the Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division Two title with a hard-fought 1-0 win at Pwllheli.

Howard Vaughan’s side were made to work hard during their difficult weekend trip in poor conditions, but they dug deep to secure another vital three points that extended their advantage at the summit.

A scoreless first half brought little in the way of opportunities, but the telling moment came just after the break when Jordan Phillips produced a fine free-kick to put the away side ahead, and they held firm for the remainder of the second period for another superb success.

They are now two points ahead of Blaenau Ffestiniog Amateurs with a pair of games in hand after their promotion rivals were held to a 2-2 home draw against Penmaenmawr Phoenix.

Things did not begin well for the visitors and they fell behind courtesy of an Iwan Jones strike after just two minutes, before they levelled matters on the quarter hour mark through Daniel Williams.

The hosts got their noses in front yet again when Iwan Griffiths produced a neat finish, but Phoenix secured a share of the spoils when Ethan Jones hit the net for a second reply.

Mochdre Sports’ disappointing campaign continued with a resounding 5-1 reverse at Llannefydd.

The away side had no answer to Sam Jones throughout the contest, with the gifted forward hitting no fewer than four times during the rout, with Elgan Roberts also converting from the penalty spot on 55 minutes.

Sports did manage a reply late on through a Kai Davies penalty of their own with two remaining.
