KINMEL Bay were denied victory by a controversial stoppage time penalty in their 3-3 home draw with Holyhead Town.

The Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division Two side turned in a much-improved display but had to settle for a share of the spoils following the late drama, and the result leaves Andy Thomas’ side in fourth spot as they prepare to welcome title favourites Glan Conwy on Saturday (2pm).

The Harbourmen began the game on the front foot and they took the lead after ten minutes when Asa Thomas continued his excellent fortunes in front of goal with a clinical finish.

This joy proved to be short-lived as Bay responded soon after with a leveller which arrived through forward Kie Ellis on 16 minutes, and they gained the advantage for the first time in the contest following the interval when a neat passage of play saw Jordan Worthington find the net.

An end-to-end contest saw the visitors restore parity to the scoreline shortly after the restart when Mark Thomas struck on 56 minutes, but Thomas’ men kept plugging away and got their rewards once again when Ryan Hassett put them ahead for a second time with 80 gone.

That looked to be good enough for another three points for the hosts, but they were undone with virtually the last action of the game when the away side were awarded a penalty, and Thomas held his nerve to put away the spot kick for his second of the afternoon to level matters for the final time.
