RHYL and District maintained their unbeaten run at their new base at Ty Newydd Fields with a 17-17 draw with Teirw Nant.

The Dragons emerged with a share of the spoils against their WRU National League Division Two North rivals following a hugely entertaining affair, and the result leaves them 15 points behind leaders COBRA with the pair set to square-off on February 16.

A frantic start to the contest saw things all to play for at the break, with well-worked tries from Reeve Wright and Jack Parker making in ten apiece at the interval.

The second period started with both teams looking to dominate from the outset, with the visitors’ gaining the upper hand with a converted tr that saw them gain a slender advantage.

This was met by a strong response from the home side, who piled on the pressure only to have a pair of tries controversially disallowed in the closing stages.

Credit to the hosts, they remained undeterred by the decisions and crossed the white wash when a surging drive from the Dragons’ pack resulted in skipper Richie Williams touching down.

Williams dusted himself off to despatch the conversion attempt and extend the hosts’ unbeaten run to nine games.

The youth team were defeated at home 38-19 by Mold youth in the north Wales cup. Their next game is scheduled for March 2, so the coaches have a few weeks for injured players to return to strengthen the match day squad.
