PRESTATYN Town’s recent unbeaten run came to end as they were narrowly beaten 3-2 at Buckley Town.

The Seasiders put up a good effort with ten men but had nothing to show for their efforts after a fine fightback from the Bucks, and the result leaves them in ninth spot ahead of their home clash with Huws Gray Alliance basement dwellers Holyhead Hotspur on Saturday (2.30pm).

Manager Neil Gibson, said: “I am extremely disappointed in the manner of the defeat, which I didn’t feel we deserved based on how the game went and how hard the lads have worked to try and get the result.

“I thought we were fully in control at 2-1 but a very stupid mistake from a young, inexperienced player has cost us. Going down to ten men gave us a mountain to climb but I thought we were still creating good chances to extend our lead in the second half.

“We went for it at the end as we didn’t want to sit and keep it tight and we wanted to get something out of the game. Aaron’s (White) shot came back off the post and somehow stayed out and you probably know then that is isn’t going to be your day.

“We’ll dust ourselves down and take away the positives, which is that we have an honest group of players who want to do well for this football club, and I saw that in abundance.”

Oli Buckley got the visitors off to a flyer with a well-taken opener on 26 minutes, they were legged back soon after when a quick counter-attack was finished off by Aled Bellis.

Town got their noses in front once again on 38 minutes when Dan Roberts steered home from close range, but the turning point arrived just before the break when Casey Faulkner was sent off for the visitors for retaliation.

The hosts levelled matters midway through the second period when Chris Roberts headed in from a corner on 63 minutes, and they took the lead for the first time on 73 minutes when Jake Roberts chipped over Ryan Woods from looked to be an offside position.
