LLANGEFNI Town booked their place in the FAW Trophy quarter-final with a 4-0 home win at Llanrug United.

The Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division One title hopefuls were at their clinical best to progress to the next round of the competition, and they almost went ahead within the first minute when Iwan Jones volleyed wide after good work from Gari Owen.

They finally broke the deadlock on 22 minutes when Craig Roberts steered home a Marvin Pritchard delivery from close range, but United almost levelled on the half hour mark when a Dylan Owen free-kick flew narrowly over.

After the break saw Chris Roberts’ side weather the storm in the opening stages of the period, and they doubled their advantage on 70 minutes when Alan Mark Owen teed up striker partner Kevin Lloyd for a fine finish from just inside the area.

Their path to the next round was assured late on when Iwan Roberts prodded home a rebound, and Owen rounded off the scoring from the penalty spot against his old club in stoppage time.

Also through to the last eight are Bodedern Athletic, who were made to work hard for their 2-1 home triumph over Four Crosses.

Rickey Williams’ men have enjoyed a sensational campaign to date and continue to pursue multiple honours, and they got off to the perfect start when Aidan Clark opened the scoring with just seven minutes on the clock.

Things got even better for the hosts after the break when Shaun Jenkins added a second on 72 minutes, and although Ben Finn reduced the arrears in stoppage time it was not enough to influence the overall outcome.
