THE titanic JD Welsh Cup fourth round showdown between Bangor City and Caernarfon Town has been selected as the S4C Sgorio live game.

It promises to be a memorable occasion at the VSM Stadium between the two storied rivals, and it will now be available to view for football fans across the country on Saturday, January 26, with a revised kick-off time of 7.30pm.

The Citizens’ have not met the Canaries at the highest level for a decade and haven’t met in the Welsh Cup since 1998, when City ran out 2-0 winners at Farrar Road.

The two clubs swapped places over the summer – with Caernarfon Town promoted to the JD Welsh Premier League and Bangor City demoted to the Huws Gray Alliance.

It is believed therefore that this is the first game ever between the clubs with Caernarfon playing at a higher level than Bangor.

Sean Eardley’s men come into the game on the back of securing a top six berth in what is their first season back in the Welsh football pyramid, with the Citizens’ creeping closer to second tier leaders Airbus Broughton after a recent resurgence following a disappointing start to the campaign.

A bumper crowd is expected for the clash, which could see upwards of 2,000 supports attend the tie.
