BODEDERN Athletic remain on the Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division One North summit after a resounding 3-0 win at Llanrwst United.

Ricky Williams’ side turned in another professional display to maintain their slender cushion in their first season operating in the third tier, and they opened the scoring after 15 minutes when Aden Clarke converted a chance.

Athletic doubled their advantage after 67 minutes when James McMinimee finished well following a neat passage of play, and Ricky Jones rounded off the scoring in stoppage time for the visitors.

They remain two points ahead of Llangefni Town having played two games more after Chris Roberts’ side sealed a narrow 2-1 home victory over Llanberis.

A goalless first half was brought to life when Andrew Sinclair broke the deadlock on 59 minutes, but Cefni were pegged back soon after when Dave Jones levelled from the penalty spot.

The crucial moment arrived after 72 minutes with prolific forward Alan Mark Owen settling matters with a superb strike with 72 on the clock.

Llanrug United are hot on their heels in third position after goals from Aaron Hughes (2) and Dylan Owen gave them a 3-0 triumph over Prestatyn Sports, but Nantlle Vale lost further ground on the chasing pack as a Geraint Williams effort rescued a point in their 1-1 stalemate at Mynydd Llandegai.

In-form Meilir Williams was once again the star of the show for Penrhyndeudraeth, firing in a superb hat-trick in their 4-2 home success over Llandyrnog United, with Barmouth and Dyffryn United advancing in the Mawddach Challenge Cup thanks to a 2-1 win at Penmaenmawr Phoenix.
