LLANDUDNO Athletic booked their place in the Premier Cup semi-finals with a dramatic 4-3 home triumph over Old Colwyn.

The Vale of Clwyd and Conwy League Premier Division promotion hopefuls were made to work hard by the spirited visitors, who started the game on the front foot and went ahead after 20 minutes courtesy of a fine finish from Joel Massam.

This was met by a swift response from the home side, who levelled matters on the half hour mark when a neat passage of play presented a chance to Jack Williams, who steered in the opportunity to restore parity to the scoreline.

After the break saw the visitors come out with a renewed sense of purpose and they took the lead once again on 52 minutes when Ste Collins hit the target, but this joy proved to be short-lived as Williams despatched his second of the afternoon with 55 gone.

Colwyn responded well to the latest setback and went ahead for a third time in the tie on the hour thanks to another superb finish from Tom Collier, but Athletic dictated proceedings from then on and equalised on 70 minutes courtesy of a Jacob Snape finish.

With the game heading towards extra-time, the crucial moment arrived on 80 minutes and it was the home side who took the lead for the first time when McKenzie Slavan converted into the net, and they held firm in the dying moments to book a final four berth at Llanfairfechan Town on Saturday, January 23.
