PRESTATYN Sports’ sensational first season in Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division One goes on after they secured a 3-2 home triumph over Llanrwst United.

Mark Hughes and John Hargreaves’ side remain in fourth spot after another professional display at their Gronant base, and the high-fliers remain five points behind leaders Bodedern Athletic ahead of their trip to title rivals Llanrug United on Saturday (2pm).

Despite the eventual result it was the visitors who started the game on the front foot and they were rewarded for their bright opening on eight minutes when Callum Parry steered a chance past Ryan Jones.

This provoked an outstanding reaction from the home side, who got back on level terms after 15 minutes when Tom MacDougall converted a chance, and they managed to gain the upper hand for the first time soon after when Robbie Dunn managed to steer into the net with 31 on the clock.

After the break saw the Rwsters come out with a renewed sense of purpose and equalised on 57 minutes when Chris Nicholson hit the target, but Sports recovered instantly and notched their third on the hour mark courtesy of a nice finish from James Harper.

There was huge drama in the final minute of the clash as United were awarded a golden chance to secure a share of the spoils when they were given a penalty, but Jones managed to pull off a stunning spot kick save to secure victory for his side at the death.
