RHYL director of football Eddie Maurice-Jones has challenged his side to go on another run when they welcome Ruthin Town to the Educate Resource Stadium on Saturday (2.30pm).

The Lilywhites’ nine-game winning streak was halted by a thoroughly impressive display from Prestatyn Town, who emerged with a comfortable 3-0 victory from their Boxing Derby clash.

Town are also coming into the game on the back of a disappointing loss at the hands of close rivals Denbigh Town, but Chris Williams’ men have been performing well above expectations despite limited resources available to them once again this term, sitting in sixth spot and just one place below the Lilies.

Maurice-Jones, said: "The Boxing Day defeat to Prestatyn has been tough to take. Our second half performance lacked confidence, desire and fight.

“We started the game bright, creating some promising chances but failed to capitalise on these strong periods. This later became our downfall and the key moments of the games missed.

“Take nothing away from Prestatyn, who I thought defended brilliantly all game and took their chances when they came.

“As a group we won't dwell on it or let this affect our preparation for Saturday. We can't lose confidence in ourselves, nine games unbeaten before Boxing Day is brilliant and there is no reason why we can't get on another run.”

The Huws Gray Alliance side will once again be without the services of influential trio Kristian Pierce, Liam Smith and Mike Pritchard through injury, and Maurice-Jones is expecting a stern test in the clash he stated they “need to win”.

"Ruthin are a well organised team with great team spirit. This is a game where you need to win your individual battles to earn the right to play,” he added.

“If we don't apply ourselves correctly a repeat of Prestatyn will be the outcome."
