BODEDERN Athletic extended their advantage at the Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division One summit with a narrow 1-0 victory at Penrhyndeudraeth.

The newly promoted side have enjoyed a phenomenal first season in the third tier, winning nine of their opening 13 league games to open up a three-point gap over Llangefni Town, with the JD Welsh Cup giant-killers having three games in hand over their title rivals.

A hotly contested affair in difficult conditions brought little in the way of chances, but the crucial moment arrived on 34 minutes when Ryan Taylor produced a moment of magic to fire the visitors in front.

Despite creating numerous chances thereafter, the away side were unable to add to their tally but managed to see out the remainder of the contest in comfortable fashion to extend their exceptional recent run of results.

Things could all change at the top this weekend with Athletic not in action, and Cefni will look to take full advantage and regain the initiative when they make the trip to Penryndeudraeth.

Llanrug United also remain in the title picture and will aim to maintain their recent momtnum at home to Mynydd Llandegai, with Llanberis also in good form but face a stern test in the form of Tony Hogan’s Greenfield.
