CONWY Borough manager Warren Gibbs has wasted no time in boosting his backroom staff with the appointment of Dave Cavanagh.

The well-respected figure arrives at Y Morfa as Gibbs’ assistant to conclude what has been a frantic few days at the Huws Gray Alliance side following the shock departure of Gareth Thomas.

Cavanagh has worked with both the Caernarfon Town and Bangor City Academy set-ups in recent years, and Gibbs is confident that his familiarity with some squad members can stand them in good stead for the challenges that lie ahead for the remainder of the season.

He said: “I'm delighted that Dave has agreed to come in as Assistant Manager.

“He is already known to a number of the squad from his time at Caernarfon Town and managing very successful Bangor U19 teams.

“He is working towards his A Licence and I feel Dave's experience and coaching qualities will be invaluable moving forward.”

The Tangerines enjoyed the weekend off ahead of their home clash with Gresford Athletic on Saturday (2.30pm), where they will be looking to end a winless run of seven games that stretches back to September 21 when they downed Rhyl.

Club chairman Chris Wilton, added: “We are really pleased to have Dave at the club and it speaks volumes about Warren that he has been able to attract such a talented coach to Y Morfa.”
