PRESTATYN Sports turned in their most dominant display of the Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division One season to date in their resounding 6-1 home rout over Llandyrnog United.

The newly promoted side moved into the top five after their sixth victory in 13 contests so far this term, with Mark Hughes and John Hargreaves’ side looking to continue their positive momentum this Saturday when they host Barmouth and Dyffryn United.

The home side began the contest in positive fashion and they opened the scoring on 20 minutes when Robbie Dunn produced an excellent finish, and things got even better a minute after the half hour mark when Dean Hyland’s thunderous effort from outside the box gave the visiting keeper no chance.

Ryan Harden’s side came out after the break with a renewed sense of purpose, but crucially they were unable to convert any of the opportunities that came their way and they were punished further when Hyland intercepted a pass and fed Aidan Bell for what was his first goal for the club.

The result was assured soon after when a long-ball from Kris Owen was controlled superbly by Hyland, who then drilled an effort into the corner for their fourth of the afternoon.

James Harper headed in a fifth for the hosts from a deflected cross on 76 minutes, with defender Stephen Ashe producing a collectors’ item immediately following the restart with a 30-yard rocket after Sports’ stopper Ryan Jones saved a penalty.

The visitors did manage a consolation for their efforts when Joel Rowlands diverted in a corner, but it did not take the gloss off an exceptional display from one of the third-tier’s surprise packages so far this term.
