PRESTATYN Town manager Neil Gibson has turned to another former star in a bid to turn around his side’s fortunes.

The Seasiders confirmed the signing of talented forward Ben Maher from JD Welsh Premier League side Caernarfon Town on Wednesday, November 21, with the player returning to the Motion Finance Stadium after departing this summer.

Maher was a significant of the Town squad that secured promotion to the top flight in 2017 after a memorable Huws Gray Alliance title-winning campaign, and he was also a mainstay in the side during their only season in the WPL.

The playmaker has found chances in his preferred position limited at the Canaries so far this season, and his arrival bolsters an attacking unit that already consists of Ian Griffiths and Oliver Buckley.

Gibson, said: “I'm delighted to have secured the signing of Ben from Caernarfon, it speaks volumes of the way we are working that we are able to attract players like Ben back to Prestatyn from a Welsh Premier League club.

“Ben was an integral part of the success we had over an 18-month period, winning the Cymru Alliance and being highly competitive in the top flight over the first 14 games of last season before the club encountered off the field problems.

“He is someone who sets a great example through his work rate, desire to win, never-say-die attitude and his goalscoring prowess. Ben is exactly the type of player and person that my Prestatyn Town teams will be built on - young local players, who know exactly the standards I set and the way I work, and who are hungry to improve.

“I look forward to seeing Ben back in a town shirt soon. I'm sure the fans will welcome him back as they know he will always give 100 per cent for the Town shirt.”
