IN-FORM Rhyl picked up their fourth consecutive win in all competitions with a 5-2 victory at Buckley Town.

The Lilywhites have really hit their stride over the last month in what has been a complete contrast in the team’s fortunes, and Eddie Maurice-Jones’ men now sit fifth in the Huws Gray Alliance as they gear up for their home JD Welsh Cup third round clash against Caersws on Saturday (2.30pm).

A stunning double-save from Jonathan Hill-Dunt kept the scores level on 13 minutes, and this proved to be crucial as the Lilies’ opened the scoring after 18 when Mike Pritchard finished well from close range after good work from Kristian Pierce and James Murphy.

Things got even better for the visitors soon after when the outstanding Pierce converted from the spot following a foul on Cai Owen with 27 on the clock, but Town finally got a foothold in the game and reduced the arrears on 37 when Keiron Moore found the net.

After the break saw the away side restore their advantage through a collectors’ item from Matthew Cook, who produced a sensational individual run from inside his own half before curling into the net, and they sealed the points after 80 when striker Matty Worrall finished well on the turn to give the Lilies a fourth.

Aron Wiliams gave the hosts a glimmer of hope when his left-footed effort found its way past Hill-Dunt at the near post in the final minute of normal time, but the rampant visitors rounded off proceedings with another from playmaker Cook, who capped off a fine display with his second of the afternoon to complete the scoring.

Following their cup clash against the Bluebirds on Saturday, Maurice-Jones’ squad return to league action on November 24 when they host Guilsfield at the Bell Vue Stadium.
