LLANSANNAN extended their advantage at the Vale of Clwyd and Conwy League Premier Division summit thanks to a narrow 2-1 win at Rhuddlan Town.

Gari Evans and Tom Lewis’ side have enjoyed a fantastic start to the campaign and now find themselves eight points clear of their nearest rivals, and they opened the scoring against the newly promoted side after just nine minutes when veteran marksman Geraint Jones finished well after a neat passage of play.

This provoked a strong response from the home side, who responded well to the setback and levelled matters on the half hour mark courtesy of a Callum Roberts effort, but Sannan took another crucial lead after the break through Adam Gage with 52 gone and held on for another priceless three points.

Bro Cernyw now occupy second spot in the standings following an eye-catching 6-2 home victory over title rivals Llanfairfechan Town.

Osian Roberts was in phenomenal form throughout the contest and rounded off a sensational individual display with a hat-trick, and Ianto Roberts hit a brace either side of half time to aid the hosts’ cause considerably.

Llandudno Amateurs progressed to the Premier Cup second round with a 3-2 success at Machno United.

Despite the eventual result, United raced into a two-goal advantage when Triden Williams and Sam Thomas both netted within the opening eight minutes, before a quick-fire brace from Steve Kirk just before the interval levelled matters.

The tie was settled in dramatic fashion thanks to a superb Matty Beech strike for the visitors’ three minutes from time.
