RHYL director of football Eddie Maurice-Jones was delighted with his side’s showing in their resounding 5-0 win over Holyhead Hotspur.

The in-form Lilywhites produced one of their finest displays of the Huws Gray Alliance season to date in order to continue their impressive form, and the result sees them move into sixth position in the standings ahead of a crucial November heading into the busy festive fixture list.

Maurice-Jones, said: “It was a brilliant performance and I couldn’t ask for anything more. The most important thing for me was the clean sheet, it is something we have been working towards for a while and you can see what it meant to the lads after the game.

“They are starting to show what we are all about and the lads are now playing with a smile on their face. We changed things a bit to give other lads a go and I thought our front three in the first half were outstanding and were too much for Holyhead to handle.

“Their pressing from the front got the ball back high up the pitch and allowed us to dictate how we played, and the confidence is now spreading like wildfire throughout the squad.

“I’ve said this league is difficult and every game is massive, so it is about building momentum and there has been a massive change within the squad over the last few weeks both on and off the pitch, which is key with any group of players.

“You have got to enjoy it and the way they played and got the ball down, and not one of them shied away from the task and that’s what we and the Rhyl supporters want.”

The Lilies make a tricky trio to Buckley Town on Saturday before taking on Caersws in the JD Welsh Cup, and they will also face the prospect of games against Guilsfield and Bangor City in their immediate future.
