BLAENAU Amateurs extended their advantage at the Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division Two summit with a resounding 4-1 home win over title rivals Glan Conwy.

The home side made an imposing start to proceedings and got their noses in front after 12 minutes when Bryn Humphries continued his excellent recent form with another neat finish, and things looked increasingly bleak for the visitors when Tom Hughes doubled their advantage after another strong period of play with 28 gone.

After the interval saw the hosts tighten their grip on the contest through the prolific Humphreys, who notched his second of the afternoon in fine style after 65 minutes.

The away side found a route back into the contest shortly after when in-form Jordan Phillips reduced the arrears, but they were unable to find another despite throwing caution to the wind and were caught on the break two minutes from time with Hughes also sealing his brace.

A hat-trick from Iwan Owen was the highlight of Y Felinheli’s emphatic 7-1 rout at Amlwch Town, with Josh Owen and Mark Holland hitting a brace apiece for Pentraeth in their outstanding 4-2 triumph at Mochdre Sports.

There was no such luck for basement dwellers Llannerchymedd, who were beaten 4-0 at Kinmel Bay, and Gaerwen picked up a valuable 2-2 draw at Llannefydd thanks to goals from Sion Monument and Connor Gordon.

Bodedern Athletic continued their fine start to life in Division One with a thumping 8-0 home win over Llandudno Athletic.

Prolific forward Stephen Whittaker was once again the star of the show with a treble, with Geraint Torr (2), Richard Williams and Ricky Jones also on target.
