LLANGEFNI Town eased into the JD Welsh Cup first round with a comfortable 4-0 home win over Saltney Town.

The Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division One leaders wasted no time in opening the scoring when Mathew Jones found the net after just four minutes, and Alan Mark Owen doubled their advantage soon after when he reacted first to Kevin Lloyd effort which was only parried.

The pacey duo of Rabiy Jumda and Jake Johnson caused plenty of problems from the visitors’ perspective, but all hopes of a comeback were dashed on 80 minutes when Ben Berrett was shown a straight red card for a horrible challenge on Jack Williams.

Cefni made their numerical advantage count immediately when Jones notched his second of the tie on 82 minutes after good work from Williams, and Lloyd rounded off the scoring in fine style with a 25-yard thunderbolt late on.

Manager Chris Roberts, said: “It was another great win for us and another clean sheet.

“Saltney were the toughest opponent we have faced so far this season and we came out on top again. We played some really good football and moved the ball well and didn’t really allow them to see much of the ball and get at us.

“It was great to score another four goals but I feel that 4-0 was not flattering of our performance and in truth we could have scored more.

“The lads were outstanding and it was pleasing to see that we didn’t just win the match but we also won the battle.

“I knew that they would have got stuck in and try and get into our heads and wind us up but I asked for every player to make sure they won their individual battle and every single one of them did.”
