PRESTATYN Town have finally got their man after the securing the services of prolific striker Ian Griffiths.

The Seasiders confirmed the news on Friday, September 7, which sees the popular figure return to the Motion Finance Stadium from Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division One side Prestatyn Sports.

Griffiths enjoyed a hugely successful first spell with Town, winning promotion to the JD Welsh Premier League and scoring their first two goals ever in the top flight.

After a brief stint out of the game, Griffiths returned with a bang and played a huge contributing factor in Sports’ title win last term to ensure they reached their third tier of the Welsh pyramid for the first time in their history.

He said: “I never thought I’d get the chance to come back.

“This is where it all started for me. I’m at the age now where there won’t be many more opportunities to play at this level, so for me - this is the right move at the right time.

“I’m in the best shape I’ve been in for five or six years, and I’m in a position to be able to give 100 per cent commitment.

“Obviously I’m bringing a lot of experience with me, and I want to use that to score goals and help get this club back to where it belongs. The fans know that I work hard for the team, that I play with passion - and I think the fast, attacking football that Leon (Field) and Ryan (Turner) are trying to implement will suit me down to the ground.”

The Town management team initially tried to sign Griffiths earlier this summer, but the player opted to stay with Sports during the initial stages of the campaign, but after a superb start he decided that it was time to test his skills within the Huws Gray Alliance and scored on his return in their 2-1 defeat at Holyhead Hotspur.

Field, added: “Myself and Ryan are delighted to have finally got our man. Ian brings goals, maturity and the gritty determination to cause trouble for a lot of defences.”
