A DISAPPOINTING batting display condemned Abergele to a heavy 130-run loss at North Wales Cricket League Division One promotion hopefuls Mochdre.

The home side set a target of 208 all out from 48 overs at the crease, with Humphresy producing a stunning knock on his way to 50 before he was eventually removed by Owen Lynam.

Other valuable contributions came from James French (27), Owen Davies (18) and Mike Humphreys (28*), with Wasim Ali the pick of the visiting bowlers on his way to figures of 3-26.

Lewis Tolond also helped himself to three wickets at the expense of 44 runs, with Lynam adding another victim in the form of Stewart Williams to end the day on 2-61.

Home bowler Russ Boswell tore through the Gele top order with the wickets of Iwan Thomas (1), David Moulson (0) and Karl Higgins (3), with Kyle Brown also getting in on the act by clean bowling opener David Williams for a duck.

Skipper Ed Rooney tried to make a fight of things but was ousted from the crease by Matty Humphreys on 40 during a crucial time of the innings, and the Mochdre captain also disposed of Tolond (0) and Ali (5) late on as the away side mustered just 78 all out in reply.

The result leaves Gele second from bottom in the standing as they prepare for their home clash with title contenders Bethesda on Saturday.
