RHYL director of football Eddie Maurice-Jones has made more adjustments to his squad ahead of the new Huws Gray Alliance season.

The Lilywhites finally get their campaign underway at Llanrhaeadr-ym-Mochant on Saturday (2.30pm), and the club confirmed that Liam Smith, Barry Torrence and Aaron Pomeyie have all committed after impressing during pre-season.

Smith worked with Maurice-Jones last season at Denbigh Town where he enjoyed a successful loan spell from Airbus Broughton, and he further bolsters a revamped defensive unit that includes Ben Nash, Dan Sullivan, Reece Fairhurst and Max Peate.

Torrence has produced a series of encouraging displays in their high-profile friendly encounters throughout the summer and the former FC Queen’s Park star has earned a permanent deal at the Belle Vue Stadium, and gifted forward Pomeyie returns for a second season with the Lilies after arriving during the second half of the campaign.

Maurice-Jones, said: “We have strengthened considerably in defence and adding Liam boosts options even further. Liam is technically very good and shows great confidence on the ball, which will support our forward thinking players and help their game.

“Barry joined the group late on in pre-season but has already found himself within the group. He is a versatile player who can operate anywhere down the middle, this always is a massive advantage for any manager.

“Aaron has shown great potential throughout pre season, his attitude has impressed me massively. Aaron is a skilful attacker with frightening pace and he will be a huge asset to the squad. Aaron is currently side-lined through injury but we are confident he is through the worst of it and he should be able to join in training over the coming weeks.”

The club have also confirmed that popular figure Danny Holland has been granted a return to Brickfield Rangers, who have invested heavily in their squad with a view to securing promotion after narrowly missing out last term.

“We would like to thank Danny and wish him all the best for the future. Danny has been very hard working during his time at Rhyl, everyone speaks very highly of him as a player and a person and I’m sure he’ll be a success at Brickfield,” added Maurice-Jones.
