PRESTATYN Town joint-manager Leon Field is targeting a top six finish as he takes charge of his first competitive fixture this weekend.

The Seasiders mark their return to the Huws Gray Alliance with a home clash against Airbus Broughton, who have invested significantly in their squad as they look to mount a title challenge this term.

Field and Ryan Turner’s men rounded off their pre-season campaign with a 2-2 home draw with Widnes, and they recovered well from a goal-down at half-time to secure a share of the spoils.

After the break saw the hosts fight back against a very strong outfit, with a stunning strike from Dan Roberts and an Aaron White effort ensuring both sides had something to show for their efforts.

Attention now turns to their season opener at the Motion Finance Stadium against the Wingmakers, who are among the favourites to secure the second-tier crown thanks to a number of notable signings including former Guilsfield hotshot Asa Hamilton.

Field said: “I believe pre-season has gone better than expected, in the short space of time we’ve been together we’ve created a togetherness and a desire to win for one another.

“The 2-2 draw with Widnes was probably our best performance as it showed real quality to dig in and fight back to win.

“I expect us to be chasing the ball a lot on Saturday. Airbus are a strong physical side that like to keep the ball and we will need to be patient and take our chances when they appear. I expect an end to end game, so we need to be tight and composed.

“Our objectives haven’t changed from the moment we got involved here. We aim to finish in the top six or seven and we will be fighting week in week out to make this happen.”
