THERE'S no doubt who Emyr Thomas is cheering on the Champs Elysees this afternoon!

Emyr, from Denbigh, is in Paris to cheer and congratulate his nephew-in-law to Tour de France glory.

Geraint Thomas is all set to become the first Welshman to win the Tour de France today.

The celebrations have already started, with Thomas enjoying a sip of Champagne with his Team Sky colleagues, while he has also been posing on his bike with the Welsh flag.

Emyr is the uncle of Geraint's wife Sara Elen, who travelled to France yesterday to congratulate her husband at the conclusion of the penultimate stage, which all but confirmed his Tour de France triumph.

A number of year's ago, the couple undertook an energetic fundraising ride to the Vale of Clwyd.

Emyr said: "He came up to Denbigh Cricket Club for a charity ride after (a) Tour de France in memory of our dad Glyn Thomas.

"He rode a tandem with Sara to Denbigh Cricket Club in a day.

"As dad, my brother Eifion and myself have all played for Denbigh Cricket Club, (we) thought it fitting to raise money for dementia and hold the event at the club."

It's no luck that Geraint Thomas has enjoyed such huge success at this year's Tour de France.

Rhyl Cycling Club secretary Jon Harland said: "Not many sportsmen train harder and longer to get their selves in shape for a shot at the top prize in their chosen sport.

"And a Welshman has done that and delivered. Marvellous!"

Today's 116km stage ends on the Champs Elysees and it is likely to finish in a group sprint.
