BIG things are expected from Rhyl star Rory Crowther as he looks to learn from one of the most recognisable and experienced goalkeepers anywhere in the region.

The talented stopper was one of the shining lights in an otherwise disappointing season at the Corbett Sports Stadium, as the Lilywhites failed to challenge for promotion on their way to the club’s lowest ever league finish since entering the Welsh pyramid.

Things are looking up for the Lilies after a series of positive moves this summer, which has seen a new management team come in addition to a host of new signings as they look to compete with the likes of Bangor City and Airbus Broughton for the Huws Gray Alliance title this time around.

Crowther might not have as much to do as last season given the considerable upgrades made to their rearguard, but he is arguably the top goalkeeper operating outside of the JD Welsh Premier League and he is going to be a crucial component of any success that comes the way of Gareth Wilson and Eddie Maurice-Jones’ side in the coming months.

The presence of Hill-Dunt can only be a good thing in terms of his overall development, with the former Prestatyn Town standout boasting a vast amount of experience at the highest level of the Welsh pyramid and is sure to keep Crowther on his toes throughout the campaign.

Hill-Dunt is a Welsh Cup winner and will provide a useful tool for Crowther to lean on for advice and guidance, while also passing on some useful tips to ensure he gets the very most of his performances that will be key for the promotion hopefuls.

There was absolutely no pressure on Crowther last season in terms of somebody challenging for his shirt, and although Maurice-Jones has already declared that Hill-Dunt will be providing a supporting role after joining from Denbigh Town, having such a talented keeper that has seen it all in the game should be enough to see an increase in performance as he looks to hold on to the number one shirt.

With Craig Harrison forming a heavyweight squad with the Citizens, there is going to be no room for error from the Lilies as they look to improve on their sixth placed finish considerably and the popular Crowther is going to have to be at the top of his game if they are to stand any chance of ousting the championship favourites from top spot during what is expected to be another fantastic second tier campaign.

Having Hill-Dunt around can only be a good thing, and the Lilies’ supporters and management will once again by relying heavily on one of the most gifted young stoppers to grace the club over the last decade.
