GRESFORD Athletic have revealed that two star names have left the club amid speculation with a move to a Huws Gray Alliance rival.

A club statement on social media announced that skipper Max Peate and midfielder playmaker Dave McIntyre have both revealed they will be leaving the club this summer, after playing a significant role in the club establishing itself as a second-tier force.

Speculation continues to mount regarding their respective futures, with the pair heavily linked with a possible move to Rhyl to link up once again with Dave Norman, Eddie Maurice-Jones and Richard Williams-Cooke.

Both players were part of the Denbigh Town side that achieved an unbeaten season to clinch the Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division One title under Williams-Cooke, and the pair continued their success under Maurice-Jones and Norman at Athletic following their respective departures from Central Park.

No official announcement regarding their next destination has been made, but it would represent a real coup for the Lilywhites if they could secure two well-respected footballing figures into their new-look squad.

The new director of football has already begun ringing the changes with the acquisitions of Aaron Hassall and Danny Sullivan, with more signings expected in the coming days and weeks ahead during what is sure to be a busy summer of transfer activity for the new Lilies management team.

The Journal understands that discussions are ongoing with a large number of potential arrivals as the trio aim to push Bangor City all the way in their pursuit of a return to the JD Welsh Premier League at the second time of asking.
