PRESTATYN Sports advanced to the next stage of the Take Stock Van Hire Challenge Cup with a 4-3 extra-time victory over Amlwch Town.

The Welsh Alliance Division Two title hopefuls face an extremely busy run-in thanks to a series of postponements over the winter months, with the squad going in search of promotion and cup success during this crucial period.

Mark Hughes and John Hargreaves’ side came out of the blocks flying and took the lead on 19 minutes when Tom Court found the net, and things got even better soon after when Kris Owen doubled their advantage just before the break.

After the interval saw Town get themselves back into the contest as Dewi Thomas hit the target, and the game was sent into an additional 30 minutes on 80 when Josh Griffiths pounced to level matters.

The away side continued their impressive resurgence and took the lead for the first time in the tie on 104 minutes when Griffiths despatched his second in fine style.

Sports managed to dust themselves off and find an equaliser when the prolific Ian Griffiths finished well following a sustained period of pressure on 114 minutes, and the hosts secured further success in dramatic fashion when Ian Dunn popped up with a winner on 116 to send them through.
