ST ASAPH City returned to action following the Christmas break but suffered a heavy 5-0 home loss to Lock Stock Welsh Alliance Division One leaders Conwy Borough.
The Saints got off to the worst possible start and fell behind after just two minutes when Cory Williams fired home after a brief spell of good possession.
Gareth Thomas’ unbeaten side were in rampant mood throughout the contest and they doubled their advantage on 37 minutes when Jack Hoult finished well, and the Tangerines wrapped up the points a minute after the break when the prolific Corrig McGonigle continued his sensational season with another well-taken effort.
A long-range strike from Jamie Roberts on 77 minutes gave Boro a fourth during another sustained foray on the City goal, and it was left to McGonigle to round off the scoring on 83 from the penalty spot to condemn the home side to a disappointing defeat and give the title hopefuls an eighth consecutive league victory on their travels.
The result leaves them in tenth spot in the standings, and they will look to get back to winning ways when they host an improving Trearddur Bay outfit on Saturday.
