A WOMAN hailing from Rhyl will compete in the final of the HYROX World Championships in Nice this weekend.

Aimee Bishop will take part in the mixed doubles section of the athletics competition, having qualified for it by finishing first in the regionals event in Bordeaux on April 27.

The HYROX World Championships sees athletes from across the globe come together to battle out for the title of the Age Group World Champion.

For Aimee, who now lives in Surrey, this will involve running, skiing, sledge-pushing, rowing, carrying weights on her back, lunges, and throwing weighted balls.

She will be cheered on in Nice by her mum, Deborah, and her stepdad.

Deborah said: “It’s a tough one – apparently, only two per cent of all athletes in the country get through to HYROX.

“I’m amazingly proud of her. She’s really, really into it; she’s just brilliant.”
