CLWB Bowlio Rhuddlan Bowling Club is working towards becoming a Dementia Friendly organisation.

Mike Kermode, secretary at Rhuddlan Dementia Group, gave a presentation on dementia to members at the club’s last Annual General Meeting pre-Covid 19, as far back as November 2019.

Mike outlined the need for others to attempt to understand the perspective of dementia and provided suggestions how the bowling club as an organisation could practically support people living with dementia in everyday life.

Since then, with the aid of grant funding from outside agencies including the town council, the club has made important modifications to upgrade its facilities including provision of disabled toilets, a ramp for access and exit to the clubhouse and hand rail support on all four corners of the green.

David Evans, chair at Clwb Bowlio Rhuddlan Bowling Club, said: "Regrettably, Covid-19 has hitherto restricted further intentions but the club is now looking forward to the logical next step of arranging practical activities to support members and guests with dementia, as soon as Covid-19 easing allows.

"In the meantime, Clwb Bowlio Rhuddlan is pleased to directly support Rhuddlan Dementia Group in its planned programme of events and activities for June/July 2021."
