PRESTATYN Town Football Club’s manager has resigned from his position with immediate effect.
Matty Roberts confirmed his decision yesterday (August 22).
The club said that the process of appointing his replacement is already underway, while Chris Morrell will take charge of team matters for their fixture against Guilsfield tonight.
A club statement read: “The club would like to thank Matty for his hard work and dedication during his time as manager, especially for keeping us in tier two.
“This wasn't a rushed decision by Matty, and plenty of consideration was taken. Everybody at Prestatyn Town FC wishes Matty the best for the future.”

In a “goodbye” message, Roberts added: “It’s been a hugely tough decision to make, as it’s never easy for any manager to step away from his players.
“But for a number of different reasons, it is a decision that I had to make for myself and my family.
“It’s been a huge honour to manage this football club.
“I’ll start by firstly thanking the chairman, James (Benbow) for giving me this opportunity back in January, and the first target we set out was achieved by keeping the club in tier two.
“Over the course of my time in charge, it’s been a real indifferent experience, with so many challenges to face and overcome.
“But one I’ve enjoyed every minute of, and again, I thank James for his continued support throughout my time.
“Next, to all the players who have played under me during my time here - I can’t speak highly enough of every single one of them, along with the rest of my management team.
“What was achieved wouldn’t have been possible without their efforts and commitment, which have been superb throughout, and they’re a huge credit to this football club. So, a big thank you to all players and staff.
“And then lastly, a thank you to the supporters who backed and supported me during my time in charge. All the best for the season ahead.”
